Petunia is a one year old pit bull from West Suburban Humane Society. Petunia is deaf, so of course her training included some special challenges. She learned to respond to hand signals for sit, stay, down, come, good girl, and no. She finished her training at Bark Avenue Daycamp and has now gone back to the shelter in order to find a home. She is a sweetheart and can live with kids, dogs, and other animals. There is absolutely no aggression or fear in this dog, so she will make a great pet for some lucky person! Anyone interested in Petunia should contact West Suburban Humane Society at 630-960-9600.

Bark Avenue is celebrating today!! Doobie has been adopted and will go to his forever home next week – yeah!! Doobie went through a 2 week board and train with Matt Covey and finished with flying colors. Doobie was rescued by West Suburban Humain Society (www.wshs-dg.org). We’ve attached a picture of Doobie (he’s the boxer) lounging in the sun with his girlfriend (Petunia) at the Bark Avenue Daycamp. Petunia is also a West Suburban rescue that is with us for training – which is a new challenge because we have determined that she is deaf. Cute aren’t they?

We appreciate your interest in learning about our facility so let me start by giving you an overview of what you can expect.
We give your canine pal 8,000 sf. of indoor space to run and play until their hearts are content. Weather permitting, they also have 6,000 sf. outside at their disposal to ensure that everyone gets plenty of fresh air and sunshine. Toys and balls of all kinds will be provided as well as equipment for climbing and in the summer, pools to splash around and cool off in. The Bark Avenue staff is certified through the ABKA (American Boarding & Kennels Association) as Certified Petcare Technicians and through the American Red Cross for Canine CPR and emergency care. Our first priority at Bark Avenue is to provide a safe environment and top notch care for your pet just as you do at home.
Going on vacation? Why not let your pet take one too? During the day, your dog will enjoy the activities and socialization of the daycamp and at the end of the day, they can look forward to some quiet time with our staff and of course DINNER! Keeping the dogs active during the day promotes good sleeping habits at night and lessens any anxiety they may be feeling without you near.
For your convenience, grooming facilities will be onsite with a professional groomer on staff. With the grooming area on site, you can leave your dog for daycamp and pick them up all clean and freshly groomed.
We offer all types of training both private and group. Whether your dog has not yet learned good manners or has developed some bad ones we can help. Give us a call to discuss your personal needs.
