This is RootBeer.  He is an energetic young dog who is searching for his new home.  He loves to play with people and dogs, and loves to hang out in daycare with the pack.  He belongs to West Suburban Humane Society in Downers Grove, Il.

Hello!

 I just wanted to say thank you to Kristy for helping us adopt Nestle (now known as “Vito”.)  He is such an amazing dog with an unbelievably calm and gentle disposition.  We are so glad that Vito is a part of our family now.  From the day we brought him home, he fit right in without missing a beat.  And I’m happy to report that he and our other dog, Maya, are best friends already.  It’s only been four days, but we can’t imagine our lives without him.

Thanks again for allowing us to adopt this wonderful dog!  







]]> http://blog.barkavenuedaycamp.com/nestle-get-a-new-home-a-new-sister-and-a-new-name/feed/ 0 Daisy’s story will have a happy ending. http://blog.barkavenuedaycamp.com/daisys-story-will-have-a-happy-ending/ http://blog.barkavenuedaycamp.com/daisys-story-will-have-a-happy-ending/#comments Sun, 11 Apr 2010 13:13:05 +0000 Matt Covey http://blog.barkavenuedaycamp.com/?p=504 Daisy’s story starts similiar to the story of many other stray dogs.  She was wandering around alone and happened to stumble across some people so she stopped to say hi.  The people happened to be Robert and Jonelle Gardiner.  They immediately liked the dog but soon saw that she had a serious dog aggression issue.  Luckily for Daisy, Robert and Jonelle know a thing or two about animals.  They are expert horse trainers and owners of Landmark Farming Inc.  They knew that they didn’t have the dog knowledge to take care of Daisy’s issues but they were determined to find someone who did.  Their search led them to me and I offered to help out.  Two weeks later Daisy is now a friendly balanced dog who loves to play with people and other dogs.  This video shows her hanging out with the pack and saying hi to Mike, an assistant trainer with Suburban K-9.  Daisy is now up for adoption and will soon be leaving us for West Suburban Humane Society to continue that search.

Angel is West Suburban Humane Societies longest resident, and she is finally going to her forever home! She is spending two days at Bark Avenue to hang out with the dogs and get a quick obedience refresher.

Petunia is a one year old pit bull from West Suburban Humane Society.  Petunia is deaf, so of course her training included some special challenges.  She learned to respond to hand signals for sit, stay, down, come, good girl, and no.  She finished her training at Bark Avenue Daycamp and has now gone back to the shelter in order to find a home.  She is a sweetheart and can live with kids, dogs, and other animals.  There is absolutely no aggression or fear in this dog, so she will make a great pet for some lucky person!  Anyone interested in Petunia should contact West Suburban Humane Society at 630-960-9600.

Doobie has been adopted and will go to his forever home next week – yeah!!  Doobie went through a 2  week board and train with Matt Covey and finished with flying colors.  Doobie was rescued by West Suburban Humain Society (www.wshs-dg.org).  We’ve attached a picture of Doobie (he’s the boxer) lounging in the sun with his girlfriend (Petunia) at the Bark Avenue Daycamp.  Petunia is also a West Suburban rescue that is with us for training – which is a new challenge because we have determined that she is deaf.  Cute aren’t they?
